For many years, solar power was always overlooked. Sunlight contains energy and if you can capture it using a special gadget, you can turn it into electricity. But now that the world is becoming warmer, the sources of fossil fuels are depleting, and the cost of electricity is continuously rising, many people now realize the importance of solar power.

Solar power is clean and renewable energy. When we will start using it in our homes, there will be no extra expenses. After the installment of solar system for at least 30 years we will be supplied by free electricity and heat. Isnt it a dream of every homeowner? The solar power will save our money and we will help the world to stop global warming process too.

In the US, solar power is gaining popularity. Years ago, it would have been impossible to use solar power in homes because it was too expensive. But thanks to modern technology, many homeowners in the US as well as businesses now make use of solar energy. Power bills can surely be reduced thereby saving the environment and the pockets of homeowners or businesspersons.

There is a lot of sunlight and heat in many areas of US. Why then is solar energy used so scarcely yet? There is still very common a notion that solar panels are big, ugly and too expensive. Its true, if we consider the official offers. There are still readymade solar systems for normal house costing about $35,000 and bigger buildings even to $200,000.

However by incessant effort of scientists the solar panels are now extremely effective. Thanks to that they can be much smaller and nicer. The price and size of solar systems dropped down by invention of photovoltaic cells. Photovoltaic panels contain many layers of cells and so their efficiency is much higher. The technology exploits thin alloy of amorphous silicon. The present solar panels are very elegant, small and very efficient.

There is good news also for architects and design sensitive homeowners. With the invention of photovoltaic cells could a new type of the solar transformer could be made – photovoltaic shingles. On the roof they look exactly as normal shingles with one exception, they are black.

Photovoltaic technology – cells and shingles – is the last word of the science. Its for sure there will be new technologies in future invented and we will have still smaller panels available or new gadgets. Already now we have clean and long lasting source energy. There are many houses in LA using photovoltaic cells to supply all needs of electricity. There is an assumption that in this region will be about 10% electricity produced by sunlight. You can calculate also for your home the size of panels or shingles. You can buy a professional readymade system or to build it by yourself. The second option is 10 times cheaper. There will be always new technologies in front of us. However we cannot to wait any longer. The power of the sun is already fully at our disposal.

A solar power home is becoming more popular every day because people want to save money any way they can. With gas and oil prices going up, solar power is the way that many people are using to help them get the electricity that they need. If you are thinking about converting your home into one that uses solar energy, then you need to know the advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages:

Solar power is a natural, environmentally friendly resource that can generate the type of energy you need. Solar power does not generate toxins and pollution in order to give you electricity. You get what you need and are still helping to save our planet.

Two: When you use energy from the sun, you will have an endless supply because this energy source will never go away. So, this will no longer be a concern like it is if you use gas or oil for your energy sources.

Three: With a solar power home, you will not be limited on how much of this energy source you can use because it is free to use the sun. So, there will be no more high bills every month when you use more electricity than you usually do.

Four: With a solar power home, there will be little maintenance to use a solar power system. With solar energy, there are no parts that move and the solar cells will last for your lifetime, so there is hardly any maintenance required. This means that you don’t have to figure maintenance cost into your budget every month because there won’t be any.

Now that you know the advantages, you need to know the disadvantages of a solar power home.

Cons:

The biggest disadvantage of converting to a solar power home is the expense of installing the system. You need to do some research to determine the costs of powering your whole house with solar energy. Although, there are individuals working daily to reduce the cost of this energy source, it is yet expensive to install. However, you can cut the costs associated with installing solar power by building your own system. You will require a manual to learn how to convert to a solar power home.

Two: With a solar power home, one big drawback is that if the sun is not shining then you can’t produce solar energy. In other words, when it is raining, at night or even times in the winter, you will not be able to use this power source.

These are not all of the advantages and disadvantages that you need to know, but they are the most important ones. You need to take time to research to decide for yourself if you want a solar power home. Solar power has its benefits, but also its drawbacks, so make your decision carefully.

If you are worried about skyrocketing energy prices then take heart, there is a solution to your worries. Home solar power system is the answer that many people have come up with to solve their energy problems. It isn’t regulated by any government agency and there are no bills to pay every month. So what does one have to do to get this new age power system?

Well the first thing that is required for home solar power systems is a good roof. The solar panels need to be installed on a roof in order to collect enough solar energy properly. Aside from the roof there is some money involved in initial investment. The typical cost for a professional installation in North America runs between $30,000 and $80,000. This depends mainly on the size, and the structure of the home.

There are various types of home solar power systems so we will give you a run down of a typical system found in the United States. Typically the system includes the solar panels, the converter box, and the battery center. The panels absorb the energy and send it to the converter box. The converter box then takes the energy and converts it into useable current by your home and battery center. The energy is then sent into your home for use, and into the battery center for storage and later use.

There are many benefits to having a home solar power system installed in your home. As mentioned above if it provides enough energy then you will not have to pay a monthly power bill again. You can even take your home off of the local power grid and be completely self sufficient. If you decide to do this though make sure your battery center has enough high quality batteries to last for several days without sunlight.

Bad weather can last up to a week or more in some locations so plan ahead accordingly. You could also augment your system with another form of green energy like a windmill. Or you could just buy a lot of batteries; either choice is up to you. Regardless your home will pollute less considering its using green energy, and the carbon footprint of your home will also be reduced. In addition you won’t be suffering from power blackouts or brownouts from outdated infrastructure.

Solar power is the best clean energy source available at the moment. While it’s a tad expensive on the initial investment the monthly payments you don’t have to make to the electric company will help pay it off. This alone can make some people jump for joy as electricity rates are related to the economy, and political maneuvering. That’s the good thing about the sun, it gives its energy freely, and it does not care about politics.

Solar power is the most abundant, natural, and renewable resource we currently have on the planet at this time. Over the past two decades solar power generation technology has advanced by leaps and bounds in output, and durability. It has also decreased in complexity and price allowing people to install units on their homes. This allows people who can afford it the ability to go completely green with the energy they use.

Solar power in general is using the radiation given off by the sun to generate power. This is traditionally done by using solar collectors and mirrors on a solar farm to collect the energy and transmit it to a converter, which then convert it into usable current. This is just one method that is currently used in the United States and the method used in your country may be different. That’s one of the nicer things about solar power; there are multiple types of setups that produce the same results.

However solar power is different from solar energy. Solar energy is just using what we receive here on the ground and not amplifying it. This is what the units that you install on your house do. They do not amplify or modify the energy, they just simply collect and convert what reaches them. Another instance of solar energy was to use collectors like solar panels and then transfer the energy to heating rods to boil water, and then use the steam to push turbines thereby generating power.

This was an old idea in the U.S.A and this particular system isn’t used much anymore. Solar power is taking the light, warmth, and radiation given off by the sun, and refocusing it with mirrors. Essentially we use giant parabolic magnifying glasses to intensify the beam and direct it at a central gathering point. This is a massive amount of energy compared to simple collectors and is much more powerful.

The amount of devices turning to solar power for their energy source is becoming more numerous. There are solar powered traffic signals; watches, outdoor lighting, and newer cars are even using it to power their ventilation systems. What we once considered science fiction on the subject is quickly becoming a reality. This frightens some people as they are slow to accept change and adapt but most come around sooner or later.

Solar power in general whether it be gathered naturally or modified and focused is a profound alternative to fossil fuels. The sun is there, it’s giving off all of this energy, and we might as well use it. Solar power produces no gases, no toxic smoke, and does not harm the environment. Yes it does not work when there is heavy cloud cover and storms but that’s why we have battery stations.

So in closing solar power and solar energy are similar but different. Using solar energy to power your home can allow you to take it off the local power grid and not be dependant on coal or natural gas. Now natural gas is cleaner than coal, but it still has emissions, and again solar power has none. Many states and cities are considering building solar power stations as an answer to the current energy crisis.
